Passion for Fashion

Never underestimate the power of a few good accessories. I am showing how this sweater and leggings can be transformed into a complete look by just adding a thick waist belt and a statement necklace for a pop of color. When working with neutral colors, I like to maintain an equal balance of color and then offset it with one colorful piece. Ivory, black and shades of brown look great together and are one of my favorite fall/winter color schemes. I like to add one piece that has all three colors incorporated in it and the wide leopard print belt does it for this look. The pop of color I added comes from the turquoise bubble necklace which is one of the most versatile pieces of jewelry out there. J.Crew has them for about $150 each but channeling the savvy shopper in me I found the exact same quality, style and colors from a shop on Etsy for only $30 each. I believe in investing in some quality pieces but when it comes to fun costume jewelry I'd rather have 3 different colors for less than what only one color would cost from another retailer. Remember style doesn't come from spending the most on something, it comes from how you put everything together. Have a stylish and savvy day everyone! - Ivory v-neck sweater by Express - Black legging from Nordstroms - Brown leather boots by Tory Burch - Waist leopard belt by Kenneth Cole - Turquoise Bubble necklace from Etsy - Dark brown leather jacket from Asos - Rose gold watch and jewelry by Michael Kors
Today's look is what a majority of my daily outfits revolve around. I love a great fitting pair of jeggings, they are so comfy and can be very chic when worn with booties, boots and ballet flats. Finding a pair that fits you well is key. The ones here are by American Eagle Outfitters and I love them so much I have them in 3 different shades of denim and a neon pink one that I will be doing a post on soon. I am wearing a long sleeve black and white striped shirt and black fringe booties. When doing a black and white look, I like to stick with a black jacket, shoes and bag for during the day. I sometimes will switch out the bag for a bright clutch to add a bright pop of color. The clutch is more of an out to dinner look. I completed this look with a fitted quilted leather jacket. A leather jacket that fits you well is equivalent to closet gold, you can throw it on top of mostly anything and it makes your look instantly chic and polished. - Black/White long sleeve shirt by Forever 21 - Denim jeggings by American Eagle Outfitters - Black suede fringe booties by Vince Camuto - Black leather jacket by BCBG - Black bag by Michael Kors - Hot pink clutch by Banana Republic - Sunglasses by Coach - Black pearl bracelets by Tiffany & Company - Gold Watch and bracelets by Michael Kors
My inspiration for these looks actually came from a very nautical take on the striped shorts and blazer style. You can do this combination with all different types of shorts and pair them up with any color traditional blazer or a denim/white jean jacket. This is another combination that has limitless possibilities. The looks I am featuring are centered around these striped gold sequined shorts which I absolutely love because when they are paired with a pale pink shirt, flats and a cross body bag they are instant chic day wear. I then added a denim jacket to it to complete my day look. Moving on into later on in the day when I wanted to dress up the look, I replaced the more plain pink shirt with a dressier white buttoned down blouse and replaced the ballet flats with a pair of stilettos. My favorite look is the last one I wore when I added the tan blazer to it and wore it out to dinner. My one major style rule for always keeping it classy is that if you are going to wear something on the shorter side such as a pair of shorts or a skirt, that you cover up on the top to balance the look out. I absolutely adore the artistic form of high fashion couture. There is so much about it that makes it such a fun form of art, from all of the distinctive patterns and textures used to create all of the garments down to the fact that once you are wearing it, it then becomes an extension of your own style and personality. The one thing that I have come across somewhat mastering over the years as a stylist has been to re-create looks from the runways of the world and make them wearable in the runways of our lives. As much fun as I think it would be to wear an outfit out just as it's styled for the runway would be, it would just not be a very practical thing to do unless I was living in a land where unicorns roamed free. Much of the beauty and artistic components of it derive from the pure fantasy of it all. Fashion and what you wear can totally transform your mood and attitude for the day. It becomes a part of who you are and how you want to present yourself to the world everyday. The look I am showing here is one of the fun and fearless polkadots. This print has been around forever and now every time most of us think of polkadots the first thing that comes to mind is Kate Spade. From her dresses to her bags and iphone cases in every single color Kate Spade has covered all the wants and needs of the fun, flirty and fearless consumer. Here is how to wear this fun runway trend in the real runway of your fab life. Have fun with it, this look is always spot on trendwise. - Runway Look Dress, visor and sandals by Kate Spade - Realway Look Dress by Alythea from Bella Boutique, Boca Raton Black leather boots by Vince Camuto Gold Watch by Michael Kors Gold pearl earrings from Tiffany&Company
Here is how I like to pair up an all black outfit and play with all the different textures and materials of it to create some depth. I am doing a plain black tanktop with a mid-lengh leather skirt and a cropped black jacket. The one thing that makes this entire look pop is the bright yellow bubble necklace. Honestly these are my favorite pieces to work with right now. They are the perfect finish to most looks. -Tanktop by Forever 21 -Leather skirt by BCBG -Cropped blazer by ASOS -Belt by Hermes -Booties by Dollhouse (bought on endless.com)
